I'd always wondered where my training buddies get all their energy to train for hours on end while I can barely muster half an hour of steady exercise before collapsing in an exhausted heap. For a long time, I thought that they overdosed themselves with expensive vitamins and other supplements that you buy at those specialty health stores. Imagine my surprise, then, when one of them told me that their secret was all-natural, in the form of this marvelous fruit I'd never heard of before - the Acai berry.
I asked my friends if they carried baskets of Acai berries around wherever they went. They laughed, then showed me a bottle of Acai capsules made of freeze-dried berries. Though you could eat them raw as snacks, Acai berries are also available as powder, to mix into a juice, or as the capsules that my friends use. They told me that they would pop a capsule whenever they needed a burst of energy, after a couple of hours of surfing, or early in the morning if they hadn't had much sleep the night before.
